Overview ( Several members taking Adempas )
This product is used in the treatment of two types of pulmonary hypertension in adults: 1) chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) after surgery or patients who cannot undergo surgery to improve their ability to exercise and 2) pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) of unknown causes, inherited or associated with connective tissue diseases, to improve their ability to exercise and to delay clinical worsening of their condition.
This product has a black boxed warning related to the risk of fetal harm when this product is used in pregnant women. This product should not be used in pregnant women. Women of reproductive potential should use acceptable forms of birth control while taking this product and for 1 month after treatment is stopped. Pregnancy tests should be performed before start of treatment, monthly during treatment, and 1 month after treatment is stopped.
