Been taking the generic of Ziac for years - at least 10. Doubled the dosage about a year ago. My BP is 125/76 or lower, my pulse rate 64-68. Initial heart burn issues which quickly went away.

I am taking Sandoz Bisoprolol Fumarate 2.5mg, and they do not contain Hydrochlororothiazide.

I have been on Ziac (generic) 6.25/10mg for the past 6-7 years. I haven't had any problems with it. I was a little sleepy for the first few days. but after that no problems whatsoever. The cost isn't bad either, under 25.00.

I have been taking ZIAC 5/6.25mg for several years. I haven't noticed any side effects, but I do NOT like the HCTZ / diuretic component ~ I have to spend too much time in the bathroom! My BP has gone back up to 140/80, so Ziac seems to be less effective now, perhaps my body is no longer responding to it? Will be asking for a different medication when I see my MD next, as I have developed hypertensive retinopathy & need an increase or change in medication to get this under control.

I have been on Ziac since 2001 and have seen no increase is bathroom visits. My MD put me on this to keep my heart rate down and he gave another med for blood pressure control.

Is there a more effective, less expensive medication to take for my blood sugar?

ZIAC is for hypertension (high blood pressure) ~ not for blood sugar problems. Ziac is very inexpensive, & appears on all the $4 generic lists such as Walmart, Target, etc.
