Recall on Vicks DayQuil Cold & Flu

Procter and Gamble is recalling 700,000 packs of Vicks DayQuil capsules because they are not childproof. The lack of child-resistant packaging means it is possible that a child could gain access to the medicine. The medicine could cause serious health problems in children if several of the capsules are swallowed.

The recall only affects DayQuil Cold & Flu 24-Count LiquiCaps Bonus Pack. Consumers can identify the recalled product by the yellow flag in the top-right corner that reads: "Bonus 20 Percent More." This recall does not impact any other DayQuil or Vicks products.

Vicks DayQuil is used to treat symptoms of cold and flu and contains the following drug ingredients: acetaminophen, a pain reliever and fever reducer; dextromethorphan, a cough supressant; and phenylephrine, a decongestant.
